STGV Summer Camp / Wall‑Painting Spectacle

As part of the ArtGear / TaideVaihde project promoting two‑way integration, Rovaniemi 2018

STGV (Circus, Dance, Graffiti, Photography) Summer Camp and Wall‑Painting Spectacle were organised as open three‑day events for all immigrant-background residents of Rovaniemi as well as for local youth and young adults. The STGV painting project was carried out in an underpass, and the Wall‑Painting Spectacle took place at the Revontuli shopping centre.

The project used artistic methods together with social work to support two‑way integration during 2016–2018. The target groups were refugee-background immigrants in particularly vulnerable positions and young people from the majority population. The aim of the project was to increase interaction between immigrants and native Finns, thereby reducing racist attitudes.

The TaideVaihde project was awarded the Myötätuulta kuvataiteesta honorary diploma in 2017.
